Although oral sex avoids the risk of pregnancy, it can still pass on STI’s. This may cause a sore throat, blisters or ulcers or can pass on more serious infections such as HIV or hepatitis. You should avoid oral sex if you have any mouth or lip infections, especially cold sores (Herpes virus). The risk of infections being passed on can be reduced by using dental dams. Condoms and dental dams are available free from the clinic and can be collected during opening hours. Our staff can demonstrate how to use them. If you have any concerns about infections or need any advice then please come and talk to our Choices clinic staff. Call us for an appointment or drop in during clinic opening hours.
