Depo Provera and Sayana Press are ideally given at 12-13 week intervals but actually provide protection against pregnancy for up to 14 weeks.
You should be given a date 12 weeks after your injection, to attend for your next injection. We can also offer a text reminder for your next injection- please ask the clinic staff if you would like this.
If you are late attending (i.e. more than 14 weeks) please use another method- condoms / barrier method or abstinence and contact the clinic as soon as possible to arrange your next injection. You will then need to allow 7 days for your next injection to protect you against pregnancy and should continue with your additional method.
If you have sex without extra contraception after your injection has run out you may need to take emergency contraception. Please contact the clinic for further advice.
